Kaycee Beglau, PsyD
Clinical Psychologist
Psychoanalytic Candidate
My BackgroundI enjoy working with adults and adolescents who are open and interested in learning about themselves and how their experiences have and continue to shape both who they are and the problems they face.
I am a licensed psychologist and the founder of a trauma-informed group psychotherapy practice, Turning Leaf Therapy in the Old City area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. My background consists of conducting therapy and assessment services in a variety of settings, including college counseling, inpatient (both general and trauma-specific units), residential substance abuse, community mental health, hospital-based outpatient clinic, and private practice) for over 10 years. I have specialized training in providing trauma-informed therapy, and I specialize in working with complex trauma and dissociative disorders. My clinical interests are varied and I enjoy working with people from all types of backgrounds. I am attuned to issues related to cultural belonging and background, ethnicity, race, religion, and sexual and gender orientation and I strive to provide services in a culturally-sensitive and competent manner. |
My Therapeutic Style
I am a big believer in the importance of the therapeutic relationship and "goodness of fit" between the therapist and the client. Because of this, I value being transparent about who I am and how I have come to understand how the therapeutic process works. This is so that you can make an informed decision about whether or not I may be the best fit for you and the kind of work you want to do in therapy.
Although I have extensive training in a variety of therapeutic methods (for example, CBT, ACT, DBT, EMDR), I work primarily from a Relational Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic perspective. I will draw on these other methods at times, in an integrative way, when clients need more immediate symptom relief or support in dealing with overwhelming emotions or changing potentially harmful behaviors.
I understand therapy requires a significant investment in time, money, and emotional resources. I do not take this lightly, and respect this by also seeing my role as a therapist as a significant investment and commitment as well.

I believe being a good therapist requires a dedication to continuous self-reflection and growth through regular personal therapy, consultation with peers and supervisors, and continuing education and training. These are values I hold near to my heart and live out to the best of my abilities, so that I can be the best possible version of myself for you and our work together.
